When you dream, that is your brain’s way of making sense of what is going on. This includes the things going on in your brain while you sleep and the actual reality of your life. A dream is a combination of ideas, emotions, and images in your brain that all come up involuntarily while you are in the deep stage of sleep, also known as REM sleep.

These things can come from what you watch on TV or things you’ve encountered in real life. The truth about dreams is that there may be no true meaning. Dreams are comprised of random thoughts and emotions.

Dreams can be your brain’s way of releasing what has been trapped in your thoughts. There are some dreams that you have more than once, and it probably bothers you to figure out what it means.

What Does Flying in a Dream Mean?

Dreams are often based on your repressed emotions. When people have dreams about flying in the air, it could mean different things like:

  • Change
  • Escape
  • Freedom

This could apply to a situation, place, or person.

If you are flying with a happy expression and you have a sense of control, it could mean that you are free from something that was holding you back.

Dream of Flying on a Plane

Sometimes, a dream of flying on a plane could be something different than just flying freely in the air. If you and the other passengers on the plane are calm and the flight is going at a regular speed, it could mean that you have overcome an obstacle or finally succeeded at something you’ve been striving for.

If you are in panic mode, the dream could mean that you’ve been pondering on a bad choice you made or making one in the future.

Is Flying in a Dream Bad?

When you are flying in a dream, whether in the air or as a passenger in a plane, you have to look at your emotions and the people around you. This will help you determine whether or not your dream could have a bad meaning.

Again, it is important to know that the meaning of dreams isn’t scientifically proven besides it being comprised of your current emotions and reality.

Flying in a dream can signify liberation and freedom when you are happy and at ease. It could also mean that you are doing things against your will or have made a bad decision if you seem to have anxiety in the dream or you are panicking.

Panicking while flying in a dream signifies instability. It can also mean that you have lost touch or focus with someone and you are about to experience a loss.

The only way you will have dreams and experience these emotional spills is when you are in REM sleep. Deep sleep like this can only occur when you are getting quality rest. The BetterSleep app has bedtime stories and meditation practices to help you get a good night's rest and feel refreshed in the morning.
