Nightmares can be triggered by different things, including stress or anxiety. They can also come from the things you watch and conversations you partake in. When it comes to nightmares, there are no definite meanings behind them.

If you are a person who experiences nightmares, the first step you should consider doing is changing what you do throughout the day. Taking steps towards improving your mental health should be your focus.

Dreams about murder can cause confusion and fear. Let’s look at the possible factors that can cause you to have them.

Dreams That Someone Is Trying to Kill You

The most common cause of someone trying to kill you in your dreams is a lack of control in your life. This can be about a particular situation, or on a larger scale, like being unable to control bad habits that can lead to extreme results.

You may already be aware that you don’t have control over the situation. The fear of not knowing how to gain control can also lead to these nightmares.

Somebody You Know Killing You

A recognizable person in these nightmares may mean you are scared of this person. It could also mean that you have hurt this person in some way and your consciousness hasn’t settled since the occurrence.

How They Tried to Kill You

The way a person tries to kill you in a dream is another way to understand what your mind may be trying to tell you. For example, if your throat is cut, you may need to start speaking up for yourself and stop ignoring your feelings and opinions. Being stabbed in the heart can be a literal symbol of betrayal or pain from someone you love.

Killing Someone in Your Dream

Dreams about killing someone else completely stem from emotions in your waking life. These dreams most commonly occur when you have anger or built-up aggression towards someone or a situation.

You may be close to your boiling point and may soon lose your temper if these emotions are not addressed. Take this time to take a deeper look into why you feel this way.

On the bright side, killing in your dream doesn’t always have to have a negative connotation. You may want to kill, or get rid of, bad habits that are detrimental to you or those around you.

Killing Yourself in a Dream

Killing yourself in your dream may cause you to worry. It doesn’t necessarily mean that you are suicidal. Killing yourself in a dream could highlight a negative self-image or lack of trust in yourself. You should take steps towards improving the way you perceive yourself.

The BetterSleep app has different resources to help improve your mental health, leading to a good night’s rest. Use things like soothing sounds and sleep meditation to perfect your nighttime routine.
