The extra room in your house has probably become the room for just about anything. You use it for guests, as an office, and as a little getaway spot. This doesn’t mean that the room can’t be comfortable and relaxing.

There are different ways to make your extra room palatable for guests and your office. Not every guest room is spacious, especially when there is already a work desk in there. However, there are certain ways you can fix this problem.

Best Beds for Guest Rooms

There are many options for beds to put in a guest room. It all just depends on how much you’re willing to spend and the size of your room.

Murphy beds

There are different types of murphy beds, like horizontal or modern. This type of bed maximizes the space in your room because one side is hinged and the other can be folded up against the wall.

Murphy beds are a great option for a room that is being used as an office when guests are not there. They can also be designed easily. Some murphy beds have shelves on the bottom and when the bed is folded up, it looks like a nice bedroom wall unit.

Fold-out bed couch

This type of bed is another option for people who need to make their room versatile. It sits as a couch, but when it’s time for bed, the seats of the couch can be pulled out to form a bed.

This type of bed is still comfortable and the couch is great for when you are using the extra room for things other than sleeping. Your guest would even like the idea of having somewhere to sit rather than lay when they are there during the day.

Foldable beds

Foldable beds are usually used for camping because they are lightweight and just stretched over a foldable frame. You can store this type of bed in the corner of the room or another room in your home.

Other Ways to Add Comfort to Your Guest Room

The guest room should still feel like a room, whether it’s for guests or just you.

  • Add side tables. This makes it easier to have somewhere to place things instead of the floor. Side tables do a good job of filling up rooms and adding comfort.
  • Use good bedding and pillows. Bedding and pillows should also be comfortable in a guest room. Because most people are hot sleepers, use sheets that are breathable. Linen and cotton are great options. Microfiber is also another good choice if you want low maintenance and price.
  • Use calming colors. Calming colors like blues, greens, and greys help promote relaxation. It makes it easier for your guest to sleep at night.
  • Add a small Bluetooth speaker. This could be used to play some relaxing sounds to help wind down before bed or some background noise while you work from home.

After you have finished with your guest room and choosing the right additions, direct your guest to the BetterSleep app to top of their night’s rest. The app offers tons of easy listening like soothing sounds, relaxation practices, and more.
